Stacey is a vibrant 12 year old girl who is battling with a form of blood cancer.
It all began when it was noticed she was not able to enjoy her 5th grade field day. She found herself with a lack of energy, loss of reflex, falling constantly and bruising easily.
After a series of blood tests, it was confirmed, she had cancer.
Stacey was then immediately admitted to Children's Hospital in Boston, MA where she spent over a month.
On June 24, 2011 Stacey was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia commonly known as A.L.L. It is a rare and painful form of cancer.
Today she is being treated at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in the Jimmy Fund Clinic in Boston, M.A.
Stacey is receiving almost daily chemotherapy which can make her ill and not feel well enough to attend school or care for herself.
Stacey's mother, who is caring for her alone, of course took on the responsibility of getting Stacey to her numerous medical appointments. Unfortunately due to her extensive absences, Stacey's mother lost her job.
Stacey is wise for her age, very aware of her condition and actively participates in her treatment. While in the hospital she often volunteers for many of the painful bone marrow studies with the hope of helping the scientists gain more knowledge about this disease. She feels by doing so she can assist in treating and possibly preventing other kids from suffering with A.L.L.
She attends Elm Street Middle School but each day is a challenge, as she can only be at school as much as her strength allows her. She is a very good student who takes pride in her school work. She works hard because she knows good grades will help her fulfill her dreams of becoming a Pediatric Cardiologist. She is looking forward to getting back to playing her favorite sports but for now she continues to enjoy her acoustic guitar.
This cancer has been devastating and life changing for Stacey and her family financially. With not being able to work and lacking funds the mounting cost are now overwhelming.
For this reason her family and friends have created the fundraising event
